Every year each Kindergarten class is welcomed to St. Patrick School by their kindergarten teacher and aide and of course, by their own little rascal, the Gingerbread Man.  The chase is on as our students began their year with the signature tour of our school, led by our little friend. He disappears without warning and the children have to search high and low for him. The Gingerbread Man  leads the kindergartners on a merry chase throughout the school. As the children search for the missing Gingerbread Man they explore the school and meet all the teachers, the students and the staff of St. Patrick School and Church.

During this time we read The Gingerbread Man,   The Gingerbread Boy, The Gingerbread Girl, The Gingerbread Cowboy, The Gingerbread Baby,  Gingerbread Friends and more. We have fun comparing and contrasting the stories.

Each Kindergarten class has their own Gingerbread Man.  Kindergarten A has the original. The tradition was started about 20 years ago by Mrs. Ruth Hunter and it has been a fun and exciting way for the children to become familiar with the school and the older children love the memories that the Gingerbread Man brings back of their own happy days in Kindergarten.
