October is the Month of the Holy Rosary
The month of October each year is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our
Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7. Today, after our 8th grader read the morning devotional and pledge, two of our 5th graders read a description of why we pray the Rosary and the First Mystery, and led us all in reciting a Hail Mary. We will continue this throughout the month of October.
New 5th Grade Teacher
I am pleased to announce that we have hired a new fifth grade teacher! Ms. Samantha Mercer will be here at school this Wednesday afternoon to meet with Mrs. Charbonneau and Mrs. Walsh. She will officially start on October 17th but will be communicating and working over the next couple of weeks to make the transition as successful as possible.
Ms. Mercer has her BA from Suffolk University and her Masters in Science and Education from Simmons College. She has been a guidance counselor, a behavioral therapist, a preschool teacher, and spent 3 years as a special education teacher for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in a self-contained classroom. Mrs. Walsh and Mrs. Charbonneau have done a wonderful job making sure that everything has been running beyond smoothly in the 5th grade and we are blessed to have them. Parents of students in that class will have the opportunity to meet Ms. Mercer after school in the format of our Back to School night later this month.
Upcoming Parent Survey
The administration is currently in the process of developing a parent survey that will be part of a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). Data from the survey will help guide and inform the vision and long range planning for St. Patrick School. The survey will likely be sent out in the upcoming week.
