“You cannot be otherwise than happy while the spirit of your vocation animates your actions.”

-Catherine McAuley (Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy)

Watching the smiles on the faces of the students the last two days has only affirmed to me what so many of you have told me about Saint Patrick School being a special place.  Catherine’s words above echo the reality here at Saint Patrick School where it is understood that teaching in a Catholic School is a vocation of great importance in so many ways.  I am blessed to be able to watch our faculty and staff exude not only excellence in academia, but positivity, care, and a true commitment to what they do on a daily basis to teach to the whole child.

Staffing Update

I am very excited to announce that Jenny Quigly will be joining the faculty at Saint Patrick School as the new Spanish Teacher.  Jenny is a parent of two children at Saint Patrick School and is a professionally licensed Spanish teacher with 15 years of teaching experience at North Reading High School.  I am really excited because Mrs. Quigly brings with her the experience and knowledge of the expectations and standards of where our students should be upon graduation and placement into a high school language course.  Mrs. Quigly has her BA in Spanish from Stonehill College and her Masters of Arts in Teaching Spanish from Salem State University.

Safety Update

There are many different duties, roles, and priorities for all of our faculty and staff members but the number one priority will always be the safety of the students.  Providing our students with a safe, stimulating, nurturing and caring environment is the foundation of being successful in every other aspect.  As time goes on this year I will be communicating out various messages related to the safety procedures and processes that we will, or are following so that we can all be on the same page.

One of the most important safety reminders that I would like to communicate right away is the importance of every visitor checking in with the office before they go anywhere in the school.  This is important for too many reasons to list.

It is often easy to just get buzzed into the school and go directly to where you are going, especially the nurse and guidance office because it is located before you get to the main office.  Unfortunately this presents an unsafe situation for any student that may be in the nurse’s office and it can easily lead to a breach in confidentiality if you enter without the nurse being prepared for you and there is sensitive information or documents that could be viewed.  Please understand that there will be no exceptions to rules that govern safety and confidentiality.

We Need Your Help

We are hoping that there are some parents willing to donate school uniforms in good condition so that we are able to create a supply of “extra” uniforms in case of emergency.  Please bring the laundered uniforms in to the office.  Thank you in advance.

Mother’s Club

As we look forward to the upcoming 2016-2017 school year and all of the wonderful events on the calendar, we are still looking for a few volunteers to answer the call to become officers for the Mother’s Club. This important organization is responsible for raising the funds which help close the gap between the cost of educating each child at St. Patrick School and what is received for tuition. These volunteers each receive service credit, given the integral function of fundraising to our community during their two-year term.

I look forward to working with the Mother’s Club officers in the coming year as they work with other parent volunteers to help run our big fundraisers (the Christmas Fair, Cash Calendars, Trivia Night, and our to-be-determined Spring Fundraiser) as well as our smaller events and receptions, such as K and Pre-K orientations, National Honor Society reception, the Teddy Bear Picnic, and Field Day.

Please take a few moments to click on the following link to open up a brief survey regarding Mother’s Club. If you or someone you know would make a great Mother’s Club officer, we look forward from hearing from you. Please take a minute to share your thoughts:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NDD3SVP

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me or the outgoing Mother’s Club officers at mothersclub@stpatrickstoneham.org.

God Bless and have a great Labor Day Weekend!
